Indications:
Treatment for Cushing's Disease (Hyperadrenocorticism), one of the most common hormone disorders in dogs.
Dose:
1 capsule per 10 - 20 lbs
Ingredients:
Diosocorea, trichosanthes, moutan, lycium, lycium bark, rehmania, scrophularia, asparagus, ophiopogon, mume, anemarrhena, gypsum, schisandra, cornus, mantis egg case.
Monitoring:
Adjust the dose as needed according to clinical response. In general the clinical signs, i.e. polydipsia/polyuria, panting and pot bellied appearance begin to resolve first. Liver enzymes (alkaline phosphatase, ALT) then tend to drop. In most, but not all animals cortisol levels should normalize.
Contraindications:
Do not use in animals sensitive to any of the ingredients.
Interactions:
Use caution when using with lysodren or ketoconazole. If either drug has been administered, discontinue the medications for 24 hours before initiating adrenosol. Combination with either lysodren or ketoconazole may precipitate an Addisonian crisis. If this does occur, discontinue medications and the supplement and treat as usual for hypoadrenocorticism.
