Indications:
Encephalitis, acute or chronic, esp. with epilepsy
Dose:
One capsule per 10-20lbs of body weight twice daily depending on the severity.
Ingredients:
Arisaema/bile, saussurea, uncaria, silkworm, orange peel, pinellia, grass leaved sweet flag root, curcuma root, salvia, red peony, licorice, lophatherum, lonicera flower, forsythia
Monitoring:
By physical examination and laboratory testing.
Contraindications:
There is no contraindication known in conjunction with conventional drugs.
Prescribing Information:
Low dose corticosteroid or phenobarbital is needed in some cases. Toxicity & reactions are extremely rare. In some extreme cases, herbal supplements may cause vomiting & diarrhea in the first 24-48 hours. Symptoms stop as soon as the herbal supplements discontinued.
